Twenty-one Years of Photographic Postings, Page 3.

   An autobiography in photography.

A number of years after taking postcard 50 of him with his new born son I ran into Ali at O'Hare Airport. He was in a daze. I gave him a ride to remote parking and his car. His car battery was dead and we had to jump it off mine.

The following article by Lacy J. Banks was excerpted from the 7/15/87 Chicago Sun-Times:

"He refused help from friends begging to assist him with his two pieces of baggage.

But he did let freelance photographer Frank McMahon give him a lift to the parking lot after the shuttle bus passed him twice for being 20 yards away from the designated pickup area.

When Ali got to his car he found his battery was dead.

"Left the lights on," Ali said. "They've been on since I left Saturday evening."

Palmer arrived to help McMahon and a reporter push Ali's car out of its parking place so that his battery could jump start.

"Do you think he's in shape to drive by himself?" McMahon asked. "Should we drive him into town?"

Ali laughed at the question.

"I'm a safe drive," he whispered with a smile. "I can take care of myself. Thanks a lot." Ali waved, smiled and drove off.
